The Abuja ThisDay newspaper on this day witnessed a suicide bomber drive into the back of its building and blasted the newspaper headquarters. Everything came into limelight with the loud blast which was heard and the smoke that covered the air, leaving everyone in panic
The chairman of ThisDay's editorial board, Mr Olusegun Adeniyi was reported to have said that the suicide bomber drove in through the gate which was opened to him by the gate men. He rammed into the backyard of the building and exploded.
The attack was said to have killed four people and left seven wounded. The casualties were minimal as a result of the newsroom being far from the back of the building. Thus keeping everyone in the newsroom safe.
A somewhat similar event took place on the same day in a newspaper complex in Kaduna. This complex housed a number of newspaper companies including ThisDay. The attack on the complex had four killed and left 19wounded.
